Yes, And . . . Podcast with Jennifer Whitacre

Feb 13, 2019

Today's guest is Laura Di Franco, owner of Brave Healer Productions and a powerhouse who writes to Feng Shui her soul.  Laura is a published poet and author, inspirational speaker, holistic physical therapist, and third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do with over two decades of experience in healing.  Laura is with us today to share her story and her wisdom with us.
Laura begins by explaining what she means when she talks about "writing for healing."  Writing is a tool for awareness, and if we want to heal, we have to use the tools we have.  Laura can help you acquire a new tool!
Laura shares with us how she overcame what she calls 'a lifetime of unworthiness.'  She was a shy and not comfortable in her own skin when she was younger.  Back then she did not like socializing and having conversations because she felt like she wasn't good at it or worthy of it.  Her healing journey taught her that there IS a way out, and now she's here to remind us that there is always a way out.
Laura does a great job explaining inner child work, which can be confusing if you aren't sure what that means.
Laura figured out how to move through that feeling of fear in her life.  It's a different process for each of us, and it's important to figure this our for oneself.
Laura announces that her next book is going to be about fear.  She loves helping people figure out how to flip their switch out of fear and into love so they no longer feel trapped by their emotions.
We spend a chunk of time talking about shame-- how to move through it and why it's so darned important to do this.  If you struggle with feelings of shame, this episode is for you!!
She discusses Mindful Presence - what it is and how to connect with it.
Our conversation kept circling back to Awareness.  We all practice something every single day.  What are you practicing?  It is only through awareness that we can determine what it is we are really practicing, whether it is in our best interest (or not), and what we need to do to change if it isn't in our best interest.
Even more on awareness!
- Are you aware when you're avoiding, denying, or numbing?
- Do you know your own motivations?
- Do you realize when you're hurting yourself?
We discuss the importance of taking a close look at the people closest to us in our lives.  Sometimes we have to let people go to achieve our best selves.
