Mari Ryan had always wanted to write a book but never had the availability. That changed in 2018, when she began writing The Thriving Hive. This book is a quick read for anyone who wants guidance for creating a culture of well-being, purpose, vitality, and satisfaction, for an all-encompassing employee experience.
Why is employee well-being so crucial? Well, Jennifer explains current research that links mental-illness to toxic bosses in the workplace. Mari believes that every new employee is an opportunity to let someone in and nurture them. She informs us on how a sense of community and connection is important to her. When she lacked that in her life, Mari catered a previous work situation to fit her needs.
Mari took control and made a mid-life career change. She was working as a management consultant and traveled 3,000 or 6,000 miles a week for over 20 months. She felt a large disconnect because of her work. She promptly hired a life coach and spent the next three years working on what she wanted to do. It brought her to the field of workplace well-being. Once she found workplace well-being, she knew that this would be the work she would do for the rest of her career. That was 13 years ago. Today, Mari's work has impacted hundreds of thousands of employees.
