Yes, And . . . Podcast with Jennifer Whitacre

Jun 26, 2019

Michelle Wells is the founder & CEO of Love Me Like a Princess, a non-profit organization started to promote the dignity and self-worth of all victims of domestic violence.  Michelle discusses why it's so hard for people to get out of domestic violence.  Through her own experience, Michelle realized that help, unfortunately, isn't readily available to victims.

There are flaws in the system, and Michelle ran into roadblock after roadblock trying to find her way out of domestic violence. For example, did you know that a civil protection order could be used against the victim in a court of law?  In fact, it's common for victims to be advised to return to their abusers in their search for help.

The statistics are staggering, and the cycle of violence is real.  Education at all levels is warranted to dispel the myths and misconceptions surrounding domestic violence and its insidious effects.  There is hidden prejudice against victims of domestic violence and abuse, and the way to change that is through education, compassion, and understanding.

Coming this summer, Michelle is starting a podcast/YouTube channel called Finally A Hero where victims can learn about services available to them.  It's meant to highlight services/treatments offered by experts and practitioners who are available to help.  The goal is to bypass the roadblocks Michelle ran into, and to give victims the ability to do their research any time of the day or night.  It's also where you'll hear stories from other victims and realize you are not alone.

There is help and there is hope.  Believe in yourself!
